KAYO: SUPER SATURDAY LIVE

When Balboa and Truce Production Co. approached our team with a script calling for AFL legends to transform into Elton John - complete with sequins, feathers, and adoring fans - we knew this wasn't just another sports TVC. The brief? Create a spectacle for Kayo's biggest AFL campaign ever. With 19 sporting personalities channeling their inner Rocket Man, our team dove into a VFX playground where football meets glam rock.

VFX BREAKDOWN

THE CROWD

Using procedural techniques, we populated the venue with thousands of cheering fans, randomizing their colors, outfits, and behaviors to create natural-looking diversity.

THE ENVIRONMENT

From blue screen compositing to crowd simulation, we created a fully immersive concert experience that transported AFL champions into an Elton John fantasy.

Building off of the existing KAYO MARKETING, we built a bespoke digital matte painting to have a perpetual purple and gold evening sky against a glittering city skyline.

JUMBOTRON

A “YES, AND!” ADDITION TO THE CAMPAIGN WAS A 100% CG JUMBOTRON. WE NEEDED TO DELIVER KEY WRITTEN MESSAGES THAT COULD SCALE EASILY ACROSS ALL NATIONAL TERRITORIES. THE IDEA WAS BORN OUT OF MAKING SUPERS AS INTEGRATED AND INTERESTING AS POSSIBLE.

WE LOOKED AT HALO SCREENS, JUMBOTRONS AND A VARIETY OF REAL WORLD REFERENCES AT SPORTING STADIUMS AROUND THE WORLD.
